Camping is one of the most popular vacation activities in the United States. Types of campsites can range from pitching a tent in an area of grass to a paved area with sewer and electric hook-ups for RV's. This directory specifically lists places where you can go camping with your horse or horses.
Campsites that offer a number of options such as, picket lines, corrals, pens, and access to water for your horses. Campsites that are near miles of endless horseback riding trails, across shallow streams, through fields of wild flowers or into the wooded wilderness.
Some say that
camping with your horse can be the best way to experience the outdoors. Travel east to go tent camping and horseback riding in the mountains of West Virginia. Travel south to a campground with RV campsites and horse trails near an Arizona desert. You might want to go riding and camping in the rolling bluegrass of Kentucky or head over to Colorado for a horseback riding adventure with altitude. If you plan it well, maybe you can see a little bit of it all.
There are some amazing
campsites listed here with special facilities such as running water, fire rings, shower stalls, toilets, and electrical hookups as well as the sites where "you're on your own." All of our campsite listings have either stables with stalls, outdoor stalls, pens, pastures, or areas for portable corrals to accommodate your horses while you camp. Some camping areas allow you to rent their horses to go off on your own or offer guided trail rides. Check with the camping site for any necessary information such as, needing a reservation, if a Coggins test, health papers or seed-free hay is required.
